7/13 “Find Joy With the Little Things”

When your life is in pieces and you don’t know who you are or how to go on, sometimes you find some peace just reveling in the little things.
After I left my first abusive marriage I remember looking in my cabinets full of cereal that I picked out and being delighted. Before, everything was controlled even down to the food I ate, and I was often left with none. I relished my beloved snacks, my Friday night Dateline marathons, playing my guitar, and reading my Buddhism books. The years that followed were messy and extremely hard but learning to focus on the present moment and appreciating those little things helped me through.
